Joe Haldeman to Receive National Space Society’s Inaugural Clarke Award

The National Space Society will honor sff author Joe Haldeman with the inaugural Arthur C. Clarke Memorial Award at its 43rd annual International Space Development Conference® (ISDC®) in June. The award is given for inspiring and educating the public about humanity’s journey to space.

(Note, this new award is a different honor than the literary Arthur C. Clarke Award, or those presented by the Arthur C. Clarke Foundation.)

  1. Aah.. Mr Haldeman. Last met him briefly (plus his good lady) at Glasgow Worldcon.. A delightful couple and congrats to him.. Oh yes and as stated, there are already TWO annual Arthur C Clarke Awards, both issued in the UK.. One is the “Clarke” for SF etc and the other (sometimes known as the “Arthur”, to distinguish it from the former) is given by the British Interplanetary Society (BIS). Best wishes

  2. Congrats to Joe and all, but seriously, there are a lot of great authors who don’t have multiple awards already named after them. And some of them don’t have skeletons rattling their closets.
