Blood and Fire Preview

David Klaus sends “a link to a Quicktime video teaser for ‘Blood and Fire,’ the Star Trek episode David Gerrold has been trying to film for over twenty years. The teleplay was originally written for Star Trek: The Next Generation, but according to David, Gene Roddenberry reneged on his promise to produce it, which was part of the split between the two of them in TNG’s production history. The rest of the episode will be available later in the year at http://www.startrekthenewvoyages.com.”

The plot outline for “Blood and Fire” (a two-part episode) reads:

Pursued and damaged by repeated Klingon attacks, the crew of the Enterprise must respond to the distress call from a Federation research ship. In a matter of hours the ship and crew will be consumed by a nearby star and the crew of the Enterprise will be consumed by a mysterious horror that threatens both ships as the Klingons watch and wait. Guest starring Evan Fowler and introducing Bobby Rice a Ensign Peter Kirk, nephew of the Captain. Written and Directed by David Gerrold. Teleplay by Carlos Pedraza. This episode was filmed in June of 2007 and will be released in 2008.

The damage inflicted on the Enterprise in “Blood and Fire” has also provided an opportunity to revamp the look of the Enterprise for future missions. Click the link to see Daren R. Dochterman’s Phase II refit Enterprise model.

(Note: Ordinarily I’d include a link to David Gerrold’s own website, but it’s out of commission at the moment.)
