A new commercial, “The Most Interesting Man in the World Embarks on His Greatest Adventure Yet – Adios Amigo”, signals Dos Equis’ famous beer spokesman is being retired after nine years on the air.
Tom Galloway notes:
From what I can tell from the associated verbiage, while this will be wrapping up the current Most Interesting Man In The World campaign by around Cinco de Mayo, they’ll have a successor to continue the general idea of it. Still, I found the commercials fun, and the idea of sending him to be the Most Interesting Man On Mars is amusing, given that the actor played a redshirt on classic Trek who survived the episode.
(Yes, actor Jonathan Goldsmith was a redshirt for a couple of seconds in “The Corbomite Manuver.”)
The Dos Equis Channel on Youtube has a series of short spots related to the big sendoff, my favorite of which is this salute by three emo bikers.
[Thanks to Tom Galloway for the story.]

A redshirt, hunh. Never knew that.
Now to rotoscope him into the Martian, sippin’ a beer as he watches the antics…
Everything considered, when he gets to Mars he may start endorsing one of the alcoholic beverages made with fermented potatoes…
Maybe Watney wants a break. A Dos Equis would be nice, as he sits there sipping with the Warlord, Elwin Ransom, Gullivar Jones, and J’onn J’onzz . ..

Someone needs to do fanart of that scene….
Btw, Mike, excellent title for this (kicking myself for not seeing the in retrospect obvious “dos” connection)
Dos Equis–horse on a floppy?
