  1. And (via io9), a scene breakdown analysis: Everything About the Wonder Woman Movie We Figured Out From the Trailer
BTW, over on last week’s episode of Supergirl on WB (remember TV?), Lynda Carter — who, of course, played the title character in the Wonder Woman TV series, guest starred as the Pres of the US. One nice “easter egg” (or homage, reference or whatever they really should be called), SG put out the flames on her superduds by spinning, which, as I recall from the clips i’ve seen, was how Carter’s WW did her costume changing, no phone booths being around.
(One of the recent WB super-shows this past month also mentioned “Corto Maltese,” another classic comics reference, but I don’t remember which. Tom Galloway or Curt Busiek to the info-batphone, please!)

  2. The big question with Corto Maltese references is, did they know they were referring to the great Hugo Pratt series, or did they just get it from THE DARK KNIGHT RETURNS and assume it was original to Frank Miller?

And I don’t know what show it was in; the only DC-based show I’ve steadily watched is iZOMBIE.

  3. Or they simply know that “Corto Maltese” is a good fannish reference.
Given that the DC shows I’m watching are (currently) Flash, Supergirl, and Legends (not Arrow), it must have been one of those.

It looks like Arrow had a C/M ref in 2014, I see, btw, a news magazine cover with a Vicki Vale cover story, “Arms To Corto Maltese” (which, here, is a place, not a person)

  4. BTW, as was announced a few months ago

“The CW’s Supergirl and The Flash will team up — musically — in a two-part episode airing during the second half of the 2016-17 TV season…Supergirl and The Flash are fronted by Melissa Benoist and Grant Gustin, both of whom are Glee alumni. Supergirl‘s Jeremy Jordan and The Flash‘s Jesse L. Martin, meanwhile, are among those who also boast singing chops. Berlanti also cited Arrow‘s John Barrowman and Legends of Tomorrow‘s Victor Garber as musically gifted ensemble members.

Though Berlanti expects the characters to mostly sing preexisting tunes, “We have been talking about trying to write at least one original song per episode.”

(Victor Garber already got to sing — Edelweiss — on Legends of Tomorrow, a few week back.)

  5. I don’t go to superhero movies. But based on that trailer, I may have to make an exception for this one.

  6. Also, when Supergirl said “Thanks for the tour of Air Force One!” to the prez, she replied “You should see my other one.”wink

It is the bestest DC property currently. Bright colors. Clark is a cheerful, helpful, slightly dorky guy AND ace reporter.
