The MTV Movie & TV Awards 2023 canceled its Sunday live broadcast due to the WGA strike (and planned picketing by writers). Instead, awards were given out in a pre-taped show. Host Drew Barrymore had previously canceled her appearance in solidarity with the writers.

The 2021 MTV & TV Awards nominees are out. Disney+’s WandaVision leads the scripted nominations with five including best show, best performance in a show and best villain. Amazon’s The Boys has four nominations and also is up for best show.

The winners will be announced in a ceremony aired on Sunday, May 16.

Finally – in the Best Musical Moment category A Star Is Born’s “Shallow” continued its uninterrupted dominance of the awards season against a field where five of the eight nominees were sff, including Captain Marvel, “Just A Girl”; Chilling Adventures of Sabrina, “Masquerade”; Riverdale, “Seventeen”; Spider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse, “Sunflower”; and The Umbrella Academy, “I Think We’re Alone Now”.
