The Academy of Interactive Arts & Sciences (AIAS) announced the nominees for its 26th Annual D.I.C.E. Awards on January 12. Finalists for the top honor, Game of the Year, are: Elden Ring, God of War Ragnarök, Horizon Forbidden West, Stray, and Vampire Survivors.
The peer-juried video game award winners will be revealed February 23 at a ceremony in Las Vegas.
Sixty-one games released in 2022 received nominations.
God of War: Ragnarök leads the pack with 12 nominations, followed by Horizon Forbidden West earning 8 and Elden Ring with 7. Tying with 4 nominations each are Call of Duty®: Modern Warfare ll, IMMORTALITY, Moss: Book II, TUNIC, and Vampire Survivors.
It Takes Two, a cooperative platforming journey where players control a couple going through a divorce that takes a fantastical turn, was named the Game of the Year at a ceremony held in Las Vegas
The Academy membership voted awards in 23 categories. Rachet & Clank: Rift Apart led the field, winning four awards.
The night honored multiple industry leaders, including Ed Boon (NetherRealm Studios), who was the 2022 Hall of Fame inductee, and Phil Spencer (Microsoft Gaming), who received the Lifetime Achievement Award.

Fifty-nine games released in 2021 received nominations. Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart leads the pack with nine nominations, followed by Deathloop with eight. Tying for six nominations each are Inscryption and It Takes Two, with Returnal earning five, and Kena: Bridge of Spirits and Resident Evil Village each taking four.
Hades, named Game of the Year, led the field with five awards, Ghost of Tsushima had four wins, and The Last of Us Part II and Half-Life: Alyx each had two.

Four of today’s winners also are among the six finalists in the experimental 2021 Best Video Game Hugo category: Animal Crossing: New Horizons, Final Fantasy VII Remake, Hades, and The Last of Us: Part II.
A total of 57 games from 2020 received a nomination. The Last of Us Part II leads with 11 nominations followed by Ghost of Tsushima with 10 and Hades with 8. Tying for 5 nominations each are Half-Life: Alyx, Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales, and Ori and the Will of the Wisps. Finalists for 2020’s top honor, Game of the Year, are: Animal Crossing: New Horizons, Final Fantasy VII Remake, Ghost of Tsushima, Hades and The Last of Us Part II.
The winners will be revealed at the D.I.C.E. Awards ceremony, happening virtually on April 8, 2021.
Untitled Goose Game now has a name — Game of the Year – bestowed by The Academy of
Interactive Arts & Sciences (AIAS). The Goose also won the Outstanding
Achievement in Character category when the 23rd Annual
D.I.C.E. Awards winners were announced on February 13.
Otherwise,
the dominant game at tonight’s ceremony was Control, whichclaimed
awards in four other categories.
Also, Playstation’s Connie Booth was inducted into the 2020 AIAS Hall of Fame.

lead the nominees with eight nominations each followed by Disco Elysium
and Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, each earning six nods. Tying for four
nominations each include Outer Wilds and Untitled Goose Game
while A Short Hike, Mortal Kombat 11, Resident Evil 2, and
Sayonara Wild Hearts each received three.

Academy members began general voting for the awards on January 11.

Honored this year as a Hall of Fame inductee will be Bonnie Ross, Microsoft Corporate Vice President and Head of 343 Industries.
The Academy of Interactive Arts & Sciences (AIAS) presented the 21st annual D.I.C.E. awards on February 22 at a ceremony following the 2018 D.I.C.E. (Design, Innovate, Communicate, Entertain) Summit.
The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild was the night’s most-awarded game, receiving four awards, while Cuphead earned a total of three awards.
The D.I.C.E. Awards also celebrated Genyo Takeda, Special Corporate Advisor at Nintendo, with a Lifetime Achievement Award. He was recognized for having been at the forefront of shaping the video games hardware industry in his career-long tenure at Nintendo with the development of the Nintendo 64, Nintendo GameCube and the Wii system.
